Sure Ford, go on ahead and laugh at us. It's easy to have secret mid engine mules running around when you can hide them in plain sight using mid engine cars you've previously built. But we don't have any of that, so what the hell are we supposed to do?!

They could have used an old Roadmaster.

Build the baddest-ass pickup ever? Not a bad solution.

It's a mid-engine ute. What's there to laugh at?

But Tadge said that was a photoshop

I think the real unfairness here is the mid-engine ute they've built and will never, ever, ever sell. The car that comes out of this - if one is going to come out of this - will 100% certainly not be a mid-engine ute. Sadface. :(

I think he's contractually obligated to say that.

I really really hope this is an LT4 powered mid engine ute. I really really REALLY hope that the mid engines corvette stays a myth so I can keep using that joke

It can't carry shit, that's funny becuase ute.
Here have a ute with two V8's, yes there is one under the bonnet still, both function and were connected to the driveline!

Cheer up bucko!
I can't seem to find it now but Tadge did have a Tweet about their car having a V8.

So it's a V16, right?

I'm curious about that "spy photo".
The CIA has nothing on GM when it comes to secrecy. There's a reason for that car to exist and a reason for that pic to be out there.
Sadly, no matter what comes of that mule. GM will never top what Ford did to Honda at the Detroit show this year.

Yeah kinda, the front engine was a 253 cui n/a and the rear was a 350 cui with a blower! Not sure how they worked together? But as it wasn't street driven it probably didn't matter.

If a mid-engine Corvette makes up for the SSR, does the Hellcat make up for the PT Cruiser?

Here's the thing:
I want this car to be so fucking fast it's just stupid and annoying to any nay-sayer.
BUT... it shouldn't be called a corvette. Though I do think it should be called a Zora. Or at least have Zora in its name. Corvette should remain front mid engine, just as the 911 should remain a rear engined car.
At least for now. Maybe there comes a time in which it REALLY hampers the vehicle, but the corvette remains stupendous performance bargain in its proper layout, and will for quite a few more generations of design.
As a very big corvette fan/enthusiast, I would not be bothered in the LEAST by a halo car above the corvette. Like the 911, I don't believe any auto maker should limit themselves just to keep a certain model as the top dog. Porsche has the 918, Chevy should really have something to fill the gap. A corvette, however, it really shouldn't be for the time being.
